The 2007 rate of nonfatal occupational injuries and illnesses
requiring days away from work was 122 per 10,000 full-time workers,
4 percent below 2006. The key measure of severity—median days away
from work—was unchanged at 7 days. The 2007 rate of musculoskeletal
disorders (MSDs) was 35 cases per 10,000 full-time workers, 9 percent
below 2006.

From December 2007 to March 2008, the number of job gains from opening
and expanding private sector establishments was 7.1 million, and the
number of job losses from closing and contracting establishments was
7.4 million.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) decreased 1.0 percent in October following very little change in September and August. The large October decline was the largest one month decrease since publication of seasonally adjusted changes began in February 1947. Full Text »
