Parent Communication: Keeping Parents Informed and Engaged Across the Changing Landscape

Logo        ACA Logo

In collaboration with the American Camp Association®, EPIC brings you the Coffee House Series, an online café designed for camp professionals! In the first of our online café-style meetings, we will discuss ways to engage and inform parents/caregivers leading up to camp and strategies for keeping them on board throughout the summer. We will explore technologies that allow us access to camp families and discuss how much is too much when it comes to communication. We will share ideas that have worked and dig deeper into innovative forms of parent partnerships. Each participant should come prepared to share ideas that have (or have not) worked and a willingness to brainstorm in order to build successful camp/parent relationships for the summer of 2010.

Tentative Agenda:

  • Brief introductions
  • Introduction of the topic
  • Breakout to identify goals and expectations of parent communication
  • Present back to group to compile list of goals
  • Identify the means of communication available to communicate
  • Breakouts to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each medium, and what they would best be used for
  • Come together to present briefly on each medium’s strengths/weaknesses
  • Identify the personnel who can handle different parts of parent communication and their roles
  • Breakout into new groups based on the goals and brainstorm a structure to use the staff and technology to meet the goals
  • Present ideas back to group

To participate, please contact Andy by email at Andy@NorthStarCamp.com or by phone at 847-943-9559. Space is limited and access will be granted on a first come basis.
