Camp Matoaka and Camp Friendship

As the youngest in a family of 6 I was the only one that ever attended any form of organized camp. I joined the Boy Scouts for a few years and had a great time as a camper, but it wasn't until much later did I realize how much I loved camp. As a college student looking for a summer job I found Camp Matoaka in Maine. The summer of 2002 changed my life forever. That summer I got to see what camp was really about, not just hanging out outside, but making real friends and real connections with people. I even met a water ski instructor that would later become my wife. I spent 3 fabulous summers working at Camp Matoaka. After my time in Maine, I decided it was time to move on to a new adventure, but without a doubt summer camp just kept calling me back.

I never did return to Camp Matoaka, but by the following summer I had found Camp Friendship. I've been working at Camp Friendship for years, as the Marketing Director and recently the Assistant Director. My wife and I have 2 children and we've been married for 7 years since we met that summer in Maine. Many times a year we say to our camp families that our campers grow up in camp summer after summer, and I'm happy to report that along with their campers my kids do that exact same thing. I've spent every summer of my young life in camp since 2002 and I look forward to many more.
