In 2010, both the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and the American Camp Association (ACA) celebrate 100 years of providing children with meaningful memories and learning experiences. Culver has a long history with both organizations.

Daniel Carter Beard, one of the original BSA commissioners, was the originator and first director of Culver Woodcraft Camp in 1912.

Since the 1980s, Culver has been an accredited camp of ACA. Several of our full-time staff members are or were board members.
